GoHighLevel Software Implements a Web App for Gym Clients to Enable Member Sign-ins

By | July 18, 2023

A gym client has requested a web app build that allows his members to sign into classes (for class tracking), membership area for online education stuff, chat capabilities, and payment processing. I want to use ghl to do this but how can I build a web app with ghl? online searches aren't giving me much info. Do i need to use a 3rd party to make the site a web app?

A gym client in the GoHighLevel Official Facebook group is seeking advice on using the GoHighLevel (GHL) CRM software to build a web app for their gym. They want to create a platform that enables their members to sign in for classes, access online education materials, chat with other members, and process payments. The user mentions that their online searches haven't yielded much information on how to build a web app with GHL.

To address their question, it's important to note that GoHighLevel is primarily a CRM platform that provides robust marketing automation and client management tools. While GHL offers features like landing pages and forms, it may not be the most suitable choice for building a complete web app with advanced functionalities like class tracking, membership areas, and chat capabilities.

In this case, it is recommended to leverage the power of GoHighLevel as a CRM to handle client management, lead generation, and marketing automation, while integrating with dedicated web development platforms or hiring a third-party web development team to build the web app according to the client's requirements.

By integrating GHL with compatible web development tools, you can achieve a seamless user experience where clients can sign in for classes, access educational content, and process payments, while still benefiting from the powerful CRM capabilities of GoHighLevel.

Does it have to be an app or could it just be a mobile-optimized page that is easy to save to the home screen? I see people do this all the time and refer to it as an app even though it’s not actually. Much like a link tree page just built in the web builder.

Hey Gabriel Alway, my team can build a site/app like this for your client. Let me know if you’d like to chat; no pressure.

How well do you know GHL as some of the things they are asking for require a login where the system gives them specific permission to do things like book a class. GHL’s membership logins don’t have a lot of permission logic behind them for things like who can view what. The new Community app module in GHL should handle some of your needs. Calendars are normally open pages where anyone can book and then add their contact info. We have embedded it behind a login wall where we can have more control over who gets to book a class. If they have to track lessons like a punch ticket, this also isn’t native in GHL but we have prototyped a system to do this inside GHL with workflows and custom fields. I am a Physiologist and business entrepreneur who also has had investments in gyms and clinics in the health and fitness industry for many years, including an online app that I have been integrating into GHL. I have yet to be marketing anything specifically in that industry as it is notoriously under-capitalized and lacks the profits to pay adequate prices for its tech. The industry is full of low-priced budget products working on high volume and high churn. I have used and consulted to many of the larger players in the software tech for trainers, coaches and gyms and can tell you they are more specialized and cohesive in their task than trying to bend GHL and integrate with another product, as GHL doesn’t have it all. It can be done, but it takes work and customization and we are doing it but I am not sure if it makes economic sense. It is just that we started this journey with other systems like Infusionsoft and Kartra to name a few over 15 years ago and have grown it for internal use. We are also in other niches including the HIPAA compliance niche so we know there are bigger fees to be had for the same work. That being said if you want to see some things live or just brainstorm I would be happy to.

Progressive web apps are the way to go. Apps aren’t needed for this type of build. Also IOS has a new update coming out where you can now send push notifications from web apps and they go to Apple users so you won’t need an app in Apple Store or android, simple web site that turns into mobile app ( can use a plug-in to do this )

Just create a WordPress site, which can handle all of that. Google Crocoblock JetEngine, they have a plugin suite that will help you.

Focus shift needed if you’re not selling webapps. Refer the client to some reputed software agency for a commission, who’d do a far better job and get set on your path again.

I would either do a wp site or use a pre existing gym software, we do at our gym and then you can link members area etc through ghl within it

    Hey Gabriel Alway

I normally find a booking site that suits the clients business

    Gym clients use Noterro
Hair dressers and salons use Timely
    Medical centres can use hotdoc

    Build a website on WordPress

Link it to their all in one booking platform and CRM

Here is a few examples of what I mean

This is non integrated with WordPress

I work with over 800 gyms and counting, this functionality does not exist to the degree it’s needed within GHL.

Maybe personal trainers setting one-off appts could make it work, but not group class models where there is multiple levels of membership based on billing tiers and then program access that needs to have an organized front end that brings all those programs together in one UX.

We are actively working on a direct solution for this but we typically just integrate with whatever gym management software they’re using.

I’m guessing this is a new gym?
