Data migration / import question.
When you bring a client from another system, how do you migrate their notes? So far migrations have been the greatest revenue generator but also the most frustrating part of onboarding a new customer.
Notes specifically is a challenges as I can usually get them from the old CRM to a CSV but I’m pretty sure I need some kind of automation to be able to upload them as separate notes, and i’m not even sure that I can use the original note date when uploading to GHL.
Any suggestions are appreciate for any way to better automate migration (or even outsource it). The current client is coming from Zoho if that adds to the suggestions. Thanks.

The original post in the GoHighLevel Official Facebook Group is seeking advice on how to migrate client notes from another CRM system, specifically Zoho, to GoHighLevel (GHL). The user expresses frustration with data migration being both a significant revenue generator and a challenging aspect of onboarding new customers.
In terms of notes migration, the user mentions being able to export them from the old CRM into a CSV file. However, they are uncertain about how to upload them as separate notes in GHL and if it's possible to retain the original note date during the migration process. The user is seeking suggestions on how to automate this migration process or potentially outsource it.
As a content writer for “GoHighLevel Tutorials,” I can offer some insights on data migration within the GoHighLevel CRM software. Migrating client notes can indeed be a complex task, especially when dealing with different CRM systems. To better automate the migration, you might consider using GoHighLevel's API or third-party integration services specifically designed for data migrations.
Using the API, you could develop a script or leverage existing tools to import the notes from the CSV file in a batch process. However, it's important to note that preserving the original note date might require additional customization, as GoHighLevel does not provide a built-in functionality for altering the creation date of notes during import.
To get further assistance and guidance, I encourage you to read the comments below this article or check the source link provided below for responses and updates from other GoHighLevel users who may have encountered similar challenges. Data migration can vary based on individual CRM configurations, so it's important to explore the solutions and experiences shared by the GoHighLevel community.

It will only import the last note. All other have to be manually added. We did this for a client before the last note feature was available. Ended up copying each contact note and pasting to have for reference. Unless it’s inside a custom field it is hard to get all of the notes. 🙃
Import and export last note works for HighLevel to HighLevel. Zoho will be copy and paste. Copy from zoho paste to HighLevel
If zoho has a custom field for notes it would have to come into HighLevel as a note or as a custom field you create. Have customer or you do an export to see what zoho pulls of the notes. https://help.zoho.com/portal/en/kb/crm/data-administration/export-data/articles/exporting-crm-data
I created custom fields ‘Note 1’ to ‘Note 10’ and imported contacts with their notes records in those fields, appending the original note date to the note record. Then I set up a workflow that took the information in those fields and wrote it to note records as actions.
For contacts that had more than 10 notes on import, I just re-ran the import process with 10 new notes in those fields each time, using the HL Contact ID as the match.
It wasn’t pretty but it got the job done really effectively.
