Understanding How Missed Call Text Back Works in GoHighLevel Software

By | June 14, 2022

If I'm setting this up for another company who already has a phone number of their own… how exactly would this work? (I keep reading you need twillo, but what if the company doesn't want to “change' the number they are advertising on their site?)

And once a text goes out, how would the company know and manage this? Does it just go to the companies phone?

Post Summary:
The original post in the GoHighLevel Reddit forum asks how the software works if a company already has its own phone number and does not want to change it. The user also wants to understand how the company would receive and manage text messages sent through GoHighLevel. This post relates to GoHighLevel software and its integration with existing phone numbers and text messaging capabilities.

Insights and Expertise:
In GoHighLevel, while Twilio integration is commonly used for sending text messages, it is not the only option. If the company prefers not to change the number they are advertising, they can still use their existing phone number with GoHighLevel. The software allows for number porting, which means the company can keep its current phone number and use it in conjunction with GoHighLevel's CRM features.

When a text goes out through GoHighLevel, the company can receive and manage the messages using different methods. The most common approach is to have the messages forwarded to the company's phone number. This way, whenever a text is generated, it is redirected to the company's phone, allowing them to respond directly. GoHighLevel also provides a conversation inbox within the platform where all text message conversations can be managed, allowing the company to view and respond to messages within the software.

Im not a HL expert so someone might chime in with a different answer but you can forward their existing number to the twillio number. As far as outbound text you can use their existing number as a host number for texting so it will show the number they want and not the twillio number. But you still need to set up a twillio number for the account.
Most of HL phone products require a twillio account. Its like having an email address. Without it you cant use any phone features. But you can forward and hide the number and do some neat tricks with it.
    Good luck

You can set this is at subaccount level. If a contract/lead calls in and your client does not answer, it’ll automatically convert it to a chat and send a generic texts saying – sorry I was busy can I help you on texts? You can configure the exact text in settings.
